Inversion Tables Causing Injuries; Dick’s Sporting Goods Recall

Dick’s Sporting Goods of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, recalled the Fitness Gear Inversion Table. While the Fitness Gear Inversion Table product manual clearly stresses the importance of ensuring the ankle locking systems are engaged, some customers have fallen and sustained injuries.

This home fitness machine is designed to reduce muscle tension and stress by using the downward force of gravity to relieve pressure on the spine. It is said to relieve back pain and stimulate circulation. Other brands of inversion tables advertise that they increase flexibility and improve posture along with reducing the effects of aging caused by gravity.

The tables affected by the recall have style numbers Style STE00059FG or Style STE00118FG. The tables were for sale between November 2011 and September 2014 from Dick’s stores in the United States and online at Dicks.com.
